The orchestra members have had a break from concerting, but no, we have not stopped reahearsing. We have in fact been enjoying an opportunity to spend a greater amount of time honing our skills and focussing on a greater togetherness and joy that comes from playing. We have all valued this time and are now looking forward to sharing this with our audience.
We have been invited by St Mark's Church, Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent to celebrate their reopening after a period of renovation. St. Mark's first opened its doors to congregations in 1834, and has undergone renovation through leadership and support from the Hanley Team Ministry, Under One Roof and The Heritage Fund. It has been renovated to allow the church to function again as a church for its thriving community, but also to be an active concert venue. The large and magnificent space within meets all of these requirements very fittingly.
The Orchestra is hosting an evening of music, that includes music to commemorate VE Day 80. We will also introduce new and recently commissioned music to the audiences, whilst playing many of our and your favourites. We are pleased that Mike Barnett and Jane Bailey will be providing performances supported by the orchestra. We also very thrilled to be joined by the Audley Male Voice choir, conducted by Christopher Cromer and very ably accompanied by Anna Chiu. A truly enjoyable evening to look forward to with an air of anticipation.
